David’s Dialogues
December- Finishing the year strong
Dear Friend,
December is always an exciting time of year as we celebrate the ways God has moved over the semester, and of course, celebrate the birth of our Savior, Jesus Christ! Part of those celebrations included the annual NLCF Christmas party. This event was a great chance for the students to relax and have some fun with friends in the midst of a stressful exam season. I was excited to see a TON of people come out that night, including many who I had not met before. Why was I excited to see people I had not met? That meant that our folks within NLCF were being faithful to invite those outside the church, cultivating relationships. Building relationships through various events like the Christmas party is one of the biggest avenues we are seeing people come into relationship with Jesus.

On the same day as the Christmas party, I finished up my 4th seminary class: Old Testament Interpretation, Part I! Whenever I meet new people and share about the ministry work I do, I frequently get asked about seminary. I am very thankful to be able to take classes alongside the ministry work I’m doing at Virginia Tech. Our staff team works with the John Leland Center for Theological Studies, where we make up a large portion of their Southwest campus. This spring semester, I will be taking Old Testament Interpretation II, and afterwards will be almost halfway done my Graduate Certificate in Theological Studies!
Each Thursday throughout the semester, our Hokie Family gathers together to eat, pray, and have some fun before breaking off into our individual Engage Groups. On our last Thursday night of the semester before exams, we switched things up and had a movie night complete with hot chocolate! It was exciting for Ally and me to be able to open up our home for our Hokie Family members and friends.
At the end of every semester, we send off some of our best leaders and members with graduation. This year, we sent out two Hokie Family members, among many across NLCF, into the world after college.
I hope you had a great Christmas with your family! Ally and I were thankful to take some time off to visit Smithfield (her hometown) and Nelson (my hometown) before returning to a quiet Blacksburg for some rest before jumping into 2018! Thank you for all your prayers and support, and I hope to see you soon.
In Christ,
David
